Terry Durack & Joanna Savill, The Sydney Morning Herald.
Good Food Guide co-editor Terry Durack says the line between bars with food and restaurants is becoming blurred. There are so many good small bars in Sydney, he and co-editor Joanna Savill have created a category for them. "Many of them will easily make the transition from the bar section to becoming regular entries in the Good Food Guide in future, which gives a strong indication as to where Sydney is heading," he says. "We don't mind where good food comes from, as long as it's good. The Owl House is a good example of this breaking of the rules." Savill says it has pulled together all the elements that have made Sydney's small bars such an interesting part of the culinary landscape: "A great space, interesting drinks and really, really nice food."
Gourmet Traveller Wine
Definitely eclectic and very exciting, The Owl House does things a little differently, like offering wine and cocktail suggestions with its food, or serving almost one half of its wines by the glass. From an Israeli cabernet blend to a Southern Highlands pinot noir, you will come across a lot of new names, so be willing to experiment. If not, stick to the classics including some well aged examples
